C'mer n' I'll tell ya

I with collaborator, Orlagh Wright are doing an installation dedicated to the Spoken word in the Body & Soul area at Electric Picnic Festival to take place from the 4th to the 6th of September. This will be in the form of an over sized chair constructed in wood, large enough to fit three or four. Speakers will be fitted within the chair which would play prerecorded stories and poems throughout the day. We are also inviting artists and storytellers to come perform on the chair throughout the festival. This proposal has the potential to become a corner of the picnic “over heard at the picnic” a gossip corner, which stems from the original notion of seanachi. This year as a starting point we plan to get chatting to people in the run up to the picnic and record their tales, which would be played from the chair along with the artists' stories and spoken word.We see this as a rehuminazing and tangible way of communication in an era of virtual conversation.
